IDO PROTECTS THE FUTURE OF THE SEAS
IDO, always promising for comfortable, advantageous and enjoyable voyage for its guests has established a floating waste bin named Seabin for cleaning of the seas with the cooperation of Wärtsilä at Yenikapı pier in the past days. The activated Seabin absorbs any waste (including oil) together with the water and then gives off the cleaned water by keeping these wastes inside.
Seabin, developed by two Australian surfers Andrew Turton and Pete Ceglinski carries wastes up to 20kg and can collect 1.5 kg of waste on average everyday. This means that Seabin collects 20.000 plastic bottles and 83.000 plastic bags.
General Manager of IDO, spoke at the press meeting of the Seabin activation stated that: “We have taken a leading step as IDO for cleaning of the seas with the cooperation of Wartsila, we are glad to have supported such a good project like this. According to eco-friendly initiatives of IDO and in the framework of Corporate Social Responsibility approach, we will continue doing such precious works by protecting the future of our seas.” General Manager of Enpa&Service Unit Turkey and Manager of the Caspian Sea, Arie Pijl spoke at the press meeting of the Seabin activation, stated that: “ with our motto ‘ creating sustainable communities with clever technologies’ that is parallel to our company’s aim, we have collaborated with the Seabin Project to contribute to the future of our seas. We are aware that,IDO that is one of our valued customers has engaged in many enviromental activities. For this reason, we have wanted to donate the Seabin, the first floating waste bin in Turkey to IDO Yenikapı pier. I can say that it is a great partnership for all parties in terms of keeping our seas clean which is a big step of this project.
